Just darling....

I don't normally do 'simple', but for some reason, Sketch #73 for Little Shop of Sketches just made me do it!! LOL.

This LO is of my "little darling" when he was about 8 weeks old and of me, when I was simply exhausted. (Well, nothing has changed on that front, other than my 'little darling' sometimes isn't! LOL)

Here is my take on it:

Disco Diva

Yet another fortnight has flown by and it's time for Sketch #72 with Little Shop of Sketches.

Because Tanya has been frantically surviving after the earthquake, I did this fortnight's sketch. Didn't think it would go up still as the original scribble (arrrrgghh!) but there you go! LOL. So here is the sketch:


Took the opportunity to scrap this LO of Paul and I at an old work function - 60s/70s party. I never scrap us so this will be a treat for Luke in his album! (ROFL!) And here is my take on it:

Christmas in September?

Time for Sketch #71 from Little Shop of Sketches.

This sketch seemed a perfect excuse to use my chipboard Christmas tree, so I finally did a Christmas LO. For some reason I hate doing Christmas layouts! Don't know why... I just do.

Anyway, here is my take on it:

Muffin Around... with daddy

I found myself with some spare time so thought I'd give the September sketch that the lovely ladies at Crafty Sketches put together a go.

This meant 3 pics... OMG!! What to choose??? I ended up going with these 3 of Luke and Daddy eating some fresh, chocolate chip muffins - only cause I let Luke choose which pics I scrapped (I mean, it is his album afterall! LOL).

I love these pics coz first Luke has to compare sizes, then say 'cheers' with their muffins and then finish eating. 'Cheers' is something we've always done when we eat the same food. Yes,... I know... bumping food isn't totally hygenic but who cares when it's family??!?!

Sketch #70 at Little Shop of Sketches

I love this fortnights sketch from Tanya Leigh at Little Shop of Sketches. Maybe it's because I just love this photo of Aurelia and I, or maybe it's because I've done a 'girlie' page, which I never get to do (not that it's really girlie, but you know! LOL). Or maybe it's for some totally other reason.

Whatever it is, I hope you like the layout I created. Tracy captured this picture of Aurelia and I when we were all at the park this autumn. It's not often I'm in pics, so I just had to preserve this one!

Scrapping on Father's Day??

Gosh! I can't believe I've been lucky enough to do scrapping on Father's Day! But with the earthquake in Christchurch, Paul got called away to work for a while.

And Luke was in an 'accommodating' mood, in that he played nicely by himself (save the frequent request for me to 'transform my transformer, please muummy?'), so lucky mummy!

Anyway, I managed to get this LO done for the September sketch challenge from Stuck?! Sketches. I've been wanting to scrap this picture for ages and this sketch seemed to fit perfectly. I love it. He was out in the bush, playing at Uncle Mike's creek - naked, of course - and growling like a wild thing!! LOL

A day of Scrapping!

Today Tracy and Aurelia came over to spend the day. This meant the usual cakes from Callums Bakery (YUM) but also an afternoon of scrapping!! WOOT!

So I managed to do this LO for a sketch challenge for Scrappin Patch. Love this paper and think it really encapsulates the fun time that Luke and Aurelia were having on the ferris wheel at the Easter Show back in 2008!



And here are a few LOs I did 2 weeks ago, just before I dislocated my elbow. This first on is of Luke with his brother, Peter. Doing a LO of the two of them was special for me as we don't get to see him often, so hopefully lovely memories for them both. Luke had me cover the climbing frame behind them in a sheet so they played 'tent' in it. I think Peter wasn't that impressed but he played along. What a sport!



This one is at the mall where they had a bouncy playland up one weekend. Luke had a ball - he was only meant to be in it for 5 mins but I think it was about 25!!

Sketch #69 & a dislocated elbow!

The last 2 weeks have been somewhat painful. I fell over and dislocated my right elbow. Which meant a cast for a week and now a bruised arm from above my elbow to my wrist, and an arm I can hardly use or straighten.

Anyway, I still have a life and obligations. And I wanted to make sure I didn't let the team down at Little Shop of Sketches with this fortnights sketch.

So I painstakingly put the LO below together using my left arm only! What a MISSION!!! I couldn't cut, stamp, paint, etc etc, so it's pretty basic. Here is the sketch:

As for the arm now... I still can't touch my ear or lean on it - it's literally blue and yellow all over! I can't put on my mascara with it, blow my nose or close the car door. But it's getting better.

Parties & Sketch #68

Hey!

Well, it's Sunday night after what seems like a very long weekend, even though it's not been longer than any other. However, my BIL has his 50th birthday party down the line last night so we went away for the night. Sleep was not plentiful so am feeling a bit worse for wear.

To cheer me up though, I get home and find that sketch #68 is now up at Little Shop of Sketches along with my first layout for them as part of their design team! Yippeeeeeeeeee! Here is the sketch:



And here is my take on it:



I tell you... wiring those stars together on that wire and trying to get it circular over and over again, was a pain in the proverbial!!! I ended up gluing them down as I went. Anyway, I love these pics of Luke and I. There were more in the series so just choosing 3 was sooooo difficult! I don't often get pics of us, and I have to say Paul did a good job getting these.

Wow! Me, a Designer!!!

I'm soooo excited at the moment. Tanya Leigh chose me to join the design team at her amazing site "Little Shop of Sketches". Go and check out the site - you'll find it in my list on the side... for some reason I can't make the link work from my post!! ARRGGGGHHH

I've used Tanya's sketches so many times before - I find it takes the added 'thinking' out of trying to decide how to layout your page, and when I don't have much time to scrap, it simplifies it. All I need to do is choose everything else - I know - that's not easy sometimes, but it makes it so much quicker!

My first 'assignment' goes live later this week and I can't wait.

To apply I had to design 3 layouts based on her sketches. Here are my takes:

First a Layout of daddy and Luke. So sweet - their first strawberry crop together. Luke was so proud of it. They went outside every night and watered it and cared for it. It was so cute and so nice to see the bonding with daddy - who could do no wrong!!



Next one of Luke and his best friend Joseph, playing together in a big egg. They sent half the time SCREAMING! Talk about ear piercing!



Then, lastly, my little angel sleeping in the car. I see visions of him when he's an older man here!! LOL

Crying Face...

This LO is for Crafty Sketches August challenge.

I REALLY REALLY tried to keep the colours just to green and blue, but in the end my need for more colour won out and I had to add the orange bird but I think it makes the layout.

Would you believe it???

I know, I know!! I've said it before, but this time I mean it... I'm going to make sure I update my blog regularly!!! LOL

So... to start with I've done this LO for "Stuck Sketches" 1 August sketch challenge. I enjoyed doing it - I don't often get to scrap photos of Luke and I coz I'm always behind the camera! Anyway, hope you like it. Luke loves it - he likes the caterpillar! So much for all my hard work!

January 2010

Gosh! Talk about a busy month and welcome to 2010 everyone!

We started off the new year/decade by spending the night partying at Maree & Eions. The kids were good and went to bed early, so the adults were bad and stayed up till the wee hours drinking all the good stuff and talking... BLOODY BRILLIANT! We were lucky enough to be able to stay the night at Maree's, so that was BLOODY BRILLIANT TOO!
Unfortunately, the kids woke at 7am but it could have been worse! Then NYs day was spent at the races with them and some friends, lazying about, watching the horses race and eating/drinking again. Here is a pic of the kids set-up - under the railing, watching the racing. Just darling!



We've done a lot already this year, but I have been a bit neglectful on the old pics. However, snapped this one at the Buddhist Temple - the kids (Luke and Aurelia) copying the statue. It's so nice to take them somewhere so peaceful, where you can't hear a thing... except the sound of them racing around the serene garden, yelling and playing their drums that their intelligent mother's just bought them! (Yes, I am talking about Tracy and me!!) LOL Have to say tho, they were pretty good when we went inside the temples - they even kneeled on the prayer mats to pray. However, Aurelia did say "I like my God better than their's!"... and I didn't even know Tracy was religious!!! LOL


A few weeks back we went down to Robyn and Mike's batch in Te Mata. Mike took daddy and Luke down to the creek for a swim, while the women chatted. Luke enjoyed being 'naked boy' and exploring all around the creek. I just love this pic daddy snapped of him.


Then last weekend we went to the Superbike Races at Manukau. Having never seen this up close and personal as it were, I found it very exhilarating! The riders were extremely skilled, especially the aerobatic stunt guys. Here are a few pics. I think we will definitely be going back sometime in the future. Highly recommended to parents of boys!





And just for fun - here is Luke with pegs all over his fingers and can I just say, this was at HIS request and not as punishment!!



And then my first two scrap pages for 2010 - for "Stuck?! Sketches" layout competitions this month. I was so happy to get these done, especially having not scrapped in so long. Tracy and Aurelia came over to spend the day and while the kids played, we scrapped!





Here is hoping all is going well for you all out there and may it continue. Oh, and it's BLOODY HOT here in wee old NZ!

Bye 2009 & Hello 2010

Gosh, it's been another busy Xmas season for us... as I'm sure for all you lot out there too!
Luke's daycare put on their Xmas concert in early December - how cute are all the kiddies??? Talk about a proud mummy! I was just about in tears watching him!


Time to put the tree up!


Then we had our annual kids Xmas party where Santa comes to visit - 17 kids, lots of parents, way too much food, a nice sunny day and lots of laughs - what a FANTASTIC day!


Next thing we know Christmas is actually here. Luke was so excited about Santa coming to visit - we put out the cake and beer for Santa, and opened the fireplace door so Santa could climb out when he came down the chimney. So of course, it was inevitably going to be a 5:30am awakening, with the first words out of his mouth "Has Santa been and left me presents, Mummy?" and that was us up! So that means - santa hats on, Xmas music on, lights on on the tree on and present time... and that took a few hours (I kid you not!!).




Then Tracy, Robin & Aurelia join us for Xmas brunch with plenty of the nice bubbly stuff thrown down our throats. Sleep for Luke and mummy in the afternoon (lucky me!) and then a simple dinner at night. But there was still time for daddy and Luke to play in the pool with Luke's new pirate ship! Here they are harpooning the giant octopus!



Boxing day we had Tracy & Aurelia, Karyn, Mark, Trent & Zane, and Jason come over for a brunch, which started at 9:30am and ended at 4:30pm when we piled over to Karyn & Marks for a swim and BBQ dinner... this is all many bottles of bubbles, beer, wine and jugs of Tequila Sunrises and Pina Coladas later... most of which was plied down my throat! (No arm twisting needed there, though... hee hee hee!).

The next day we visited Dean, Becky, Josephy, Timmy and Michael - the boys had been given a pony for Christmas!!! And Luke got to have a ride and feed "Tommy" the pony. When Joseph said he would take Luke to see the pony, Luke asked "Is it a purple or pink pony?". Ha ha = Luke, it's a REAL pony, not a "My Little Pony" pony!! Too funny!




Then the rest of the weekend is a blur....

And up to New Years Eve! Went to Maree, Eion, Georgia & Riley's for the night - and we got to drink and crash at their house! BONUS!!! The kids were marvellous, the night was fab - we had to have the Bolly of course - LOL - and the company was fantastic. Got to bed in the early hours (2am) and the kids slept till 7:21am which was a bonus! Then up and off to the horse races for the day with them - Giddy Up!

So that's the latest from us... we're all good, tired but healthy and happy!

Scrapbooking seems a distant thing of the past at the moment - haven't had a chance to have any 'alone' time to do it!! Oh well... hopefully soon.
